Giuseppe Liso
Founding partner and chairman, Giuseppe’s experience in regulatory systems and the strategic and economic analysis of manufacturing sectors dates back to his period as Managing director of the economic research centre Prometeia. In particular, his knowledge of the Italian food industry – from the agricultural production phase to the final distribution phase – has led him to consult extensively for Ismea, for a number of Ministries and for the European Union, as well as for producers’ consortia for the regulation of PDO (protected denomination of origin) food products. He has also held institutional posts in this sector. Today he is involved in developing AREA group’s consulting services and in particular in the promotion of transaction services, where his capacity for networking and management are employed in translating AREA group’s technical skills into a range of services capable of assisting a client throughout all of the stages of a transaction.

Giovanni Frucci
Giovanni joined AREA group as partner in 2007. An expert in management accounting and control systems, he has worked for over 20 years in industrial groups operating across a number of sectors (railway, clothing, automotive), where he held posts with significant management responsibility. He then worked as Chief executive of a waste management company.
He currently leads on projects involving planning and control systems and organisational restructuring in the food and waste management sectors.
In parallel with his professional activities, Giovanni has held the post of external professor at the University of Pisa and currently teaches on the Master in Economics, Management and internal Audit and Control.
For the last two years he has been Director of operations in AREA group.

Renzo Baccolini
One of AREA group’s four founding partners, Renzo has built up extensive experience of the infrastructure and real estate market over the last ten years, working as advisor for public-sector clients and private sector companies (construction and civil engineering companies, public services concessionaires) in Italy and internationally. Such work has involved him in all phases of the structuring of Public Private Partnerships or Project Finance operations, from the early cost-benefit and value for money analysis stages for the public sector to the drafting of bids by competition participants. As of 2007 Renzo has also been involved in AREA group’s advisory activities for Private Equity funds. With an M Phil from Columbia University, he has published a number of books and articles on project finance and the Italian financial markets and banking sector. He is contract professor of Project Financing for the University of Bologna’s Economics faculty.

Dario Baldini
One of AREA group’s founding partners, his strong interest in economic analysis and the development of business models in regulated markets have led him to concentrate on projects involving company planning, restructuring and M&As. In the public utilities field, he has developed extensive experience in issues relating to the design of regulatory instruments, tariff systems, financial planning and modelling.
The many interconnections which exist between the waste management sector, where Dario holds particular expertise, and the energy sector have led him to increasingly involve himself in feasibility studies, business plans and financial transactions in this sector.
He has held the post of Managing director of a management area regulatory authority and has been contract professor in Corporate Finance for the University of Bologna.

Alberto Bernardini
Alberto joined AREA group in 2007, where in his role as partner he specialises in the public utilities sector, with particolar reference to industrial, organisational, technical and operation, contractual and financial issues.
He regularly supports financial institutions, banks, investment funds and the public sector in carrying out industrial and financial due diligences, debt structuring, management accounting, Newco start-ups, organisational analysis and the development of industrial plans.
As well as having carried out many civil engineering projects taking care of project design and/or works management, he has held management responsibility posts in the fields of finance and operations for the Acquedotto Pugliese (Director of Operations), Enel.Hydro (Business Development Manager) and CAP Milano (responsibility for the Waterworks Division).

Claudio Reggiani
A former manager with the Unicredit Group, Claudio became an AREA group partner in 2007, bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in leading banking groups, where he held posts with responsibility for credit management, M&A activities, and organisation and processes review. In AREA group he leads on financial advisory and transaction services engagements, in particular as regards Private Equity. He has developed an in-depth knowledge of the renewable energy sector, where he provides M&A advisory services, company development strategies, company valuations, and scouting of investment targets and financial investors. He has also held posts on the Management Board of credit, financial and investment companies.
